Welcome to Spirit of the Lake Community School. We are honored to embark on this learning journey with you and your child/ren.  Here are the steps that you, as a family new to the school, will take with our school to enroll your child or children.

step 1: tour

We would love to meet you! The best way to learn more about our school is to experience it yourself.  Contact our administrator to set up a tour. This will include time in the classroom and time for questions. You can also pick up your Enrollment Packet at this time.

step 2: apply

Submit your child’s completed application, along with a $25 non-refundable application fee (checks payable to SLCS).

step 3: classroom visit / enrollment meeting

  • Once we receive your application, we will contact you to schedule a classroom visit. Your child’s classroom visit may last the length of the school day and allows him or her to fully experience the classroom style and rhythm. It also gives the teacher a chance to get to know your child and his or her needs in the context of the entire class.

  • While your child is participating in his or her classroom visit, a parent/guardian will also attend an enrollment meeting with a member of our admissions team. You should come prepared to do the following:

    • Discuss parent expectations and ask questions regarding the Parent Handbook

    • Discuss our Work, Wealth & Wisdom philosophy

    • Discuss tuition expectations based on your unique situation

    • Complete paperwork

step 4: deposit

Submit a non-refundable $300 holding deposit (payable to Spirit of the Lake Community School or SLCS) in order to secure your child’s space in the class.

step 5: home visit

Once we receive your deposit, the teacher will contact you to schedule a home visit.

Home visits are the teacher’s opportunity to get to know your family and your child in a comfortable environment. The teacher spends time with you, becoming familiar with your child’s home life and family, and your child has a chance to get to know his or her teacher in a familiar setting. Please note that we require a home visit for each individual child, regardless of whether a sibling is already enrolled in the school.

The teacher will contact you following your child’s home visit. Enrolling is a mutual decision made by both the parents/guardians and the teacher.

step 6: Wrap up / start date

Once all paperwork and visits are complete, and all deposits have been paid, our Director will contact you to finalize tuition, including your payment plan, and to finalize your child’s start date.
