Welcome to Spirit of the Lake Community School. We are honored to embark on this learning journey with you and your child or children. Here are the steps that you, as a family new to the school, will take with our school to enroll your child or children.
step 1: tour
We would love to meet you! The best way to learn more about our school is to experience it yourself. Contact our administrator to set up a tour. This will include time in the classroom and time for questions. You can also pick up your Enrollment Packet at this time.
step 2: apply
- Complete a Student Application
- $25 non-refundable application fee (make check payable to SLCS)

step 3: home & classroom visits
Once we receive and review your application, we will contact you to schedule a home visit with the classroom teacher, as well as a time for your student to visit their potential classroom.
Your child's classroom visit lasts the length of the school day and allows him or her to fully experience the classroom style and rhythm. It also gives the teacher a chance to get to know your child and his or her needs in the context of the entire class.
Home visits are the teacher's opportunity to get to know your family and your child in a comfortable environment. The teacher typically spends 1-2 hours with you becoming familiar with your child's home life and family. It is important to note that we require a Home Visit for each individual child, regardless of whether a sibling is already enrolled in the school.
Within a week following your home-visit, the teacher will contact you with the school's decision.
step 4: enrollment meeting
Once we have mutually determined that SLCS is a good fit for your child, we will contact you to schedule an Enrollment Meeting with our School Administrator and Tuition Coordinator. You should come prepared to do the following:
- Discuss tuition expectations based on your unique situation
- Discuss parent expectations and ask questions regarding the Parent Handbook
- Submit all Enrollment Documents
- Sign Enrollment Contract with required deposit (Make checks payable to SLCS)
