This is a two-hour class that meets monthly, serving parents and their children from birth to 3½ years. We provide a nurturing setting for meeting other parents, sharing unhurried moments with your child, observing your child in play, and for social interaction.
Throughout the morning we share ideas for parenting with warmth, while exploring the developmental stages of growth in the young child.
Our time together includes creative play with purposefully selected toys and materials from nature that nourish the young child’s developing senses. We will make seasonal crafts, cook our healthy snack together, and have rich parent discussions. The rhythm will include circle time with songs, finger games, nursery rhymes & stories.
Each class typically consists of six parents along with their infant/toddler and any young siblings.
Today’s scientific research supports what we have known for many years: when young children are given opportunities to learn through play, these experiences foster imagination, concentration, coordination, language and number skills -- capacities which lay a solid foundation for intellectual development in the elementary school years and beyond.
