Registration deadline for Session 1 (10/2/17-12/15/2017) is Friday, September 29, 2017.
Registration deadline for Session 2 (2/5/18-4/20/18) is Friday, February 2, 2018.
Using high-quality brushes, paint & paper, your child will learn a wet-on-wet painting technique that brings a living feeling to his/her work. Practicing inner stillness and concentration, your child will fully experience the nature and depth of color using this form which only arises out of the meeting and blending of color.
In this handwork course, your child will focus on learning beginning knitting skills, culminating in a small project made from beautiful wool or cotton yarn.
For your convenience, to extend your child's school day with the SLCS community, recess or game time for fun and friendship with same-age peers is an option to add on to other classes you'd like to enroll your child in on the same day.
Take part in team-building exercises and traditional games to encourage patience, fine and gross motor skill development, and cooperation. The Grade 1 class will typically take place outside. As weather allows, all grades will move into winter sports such as skating and cross country skiing.
Children are instinctively drawn to shaping things with their hands. While sculpting, they will connect the movements and gestures of their hands with the responses of the soft material that forgivingly lends itself to forming and reforming; exploring ideas. We will use beeswax and clay and inspiration from stories for our forms.
