{"id":1024,"date":"2019-02-06T13:06:35","date_gmt":"2019-02-06T13:06:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/slcrail.com\/\/?p=1024"},"modified":"2019-02-06T13:06:35","modified_gmt":"2019-02-06T13:06:35","slug":"worcestershire-parkway-station-to-welcome-first-trains-later-this-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/slcrail.com\/worcestershire-parkway-station-to-welcome-first-trains-later-this-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Worcestershire Parkway station to welcome first trains later this year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Construction work on the new Worcestershire Parkway is progressing well:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The main station building is nearing completion and the internal fit-out works have begun.<\/li>\n<li>Work has started on the installation of the three, 265-metre-long, platforms, each being built in sections onsite, away from the track, and then manoeuvred into place.<\/li>\n<li>A pedestrian bridge providing access to the platforms is in place, the new highway roundabout has been installed and opened to through traffic and work is well underway on the 500-space car park and access road.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1025\" src=\"https:\/\/slcrail.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/aerial-shot-Feb-2019.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"733\" height=\"550\" srcset=\"https:\/\/slcrail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/aerial-shot-Feb-2019.jpg 733w, https:\/\/slcrail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/aerial-shot-Feb-2019-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 733px) 100vw, 733px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Station construction is set to be completed during the summer. Once it has gone through the rigorous Entry into Service process \u2013 including inspection and testing of facilities, station staff training, driver training and completion of certification \u2013 Great Western Railway will formally take over the operation and management of the station.<\/p>\n<p>The station is expected to be open during the final quarter of 2019 with passengers being able to access services on both the North Cotswold and Cardiff-Gloucester-Birmingham Lines which intersect at the station.<\/p>\n<p>Great Western Railway services operating between Hereford\/Great Malvern\/ Worcester, and the Thames Valley and London Paddington via stations including Pershore, Evesham, Oxford and Reading will call at the station along with services between Cardiff and Nottingham.<\/p>\n<p>For more information please see our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/slcrail.com\/\/projects\/worcestershire-parkway-station\/\">Worcestershire Parkway project profile\u00a0<\/a>or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/slcrail.com\/\/contact\/\">contact us<\/a>.    \t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Construction work on the new station is progressing well.
