{"id":1401,"date":"2019-10-10T14:24:01","date_gmt":"2019-10-10T13:24:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/slcrail.com\/?p=1401"},"modified":"2019-10-10T14:24:01","modified_gmt":"2019-10-10T13:24:01","slug":"take-a-virtual-tour-of-worcestershire-parkway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/slcrail.com\/take-a-virtual-tour-of-worcestershire-parkway\/","title":{"rendered":"Take a Virtual Tour of Worcestershire Parkway"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As rail advisors to Worcestershire County Council and project managers for <a href=\"https:\/\/slcrail.com\/projects\/worcestershire-parkway-station\/\">Worcestershire Parkway<\/a>, we invite you to take a virtual tour inside the station as the project nears completion: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Worcestershire Parkway Full Drone Footage - October 2019\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Qs-_yX7Ct2s?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As construction\nnears completion, the county\u2019s newest, and biggest, train station is about to\nmove into the final, and most critical phase so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Works on the\nstation will be coming to an end in the next few weeks and, once complete, the\nstation will be rigorously tested and commissioned by Great Western Railway\n(GWR), Network Rail and CrossCountry Trains as part of their Entry into Service\nperiod before the station is open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This Entry Into\nService period will ensure that the station is fully ready to open to the\npublic and involves the testing and commissioning of all equipment and services\nsuch as signals, communication systems, IT connections, water services, fire\ntank and attenuation tank, lifts, lighting and CCTV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the Entry\ninto Service period, staff training will take place for both GWR and\nCrossCountry staff including train drivers. As the station will be a brand-new\nstop, an in-depth schedule is in place to ensure all drivers and support staff\nare trained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This work includes completion of internal fit out such as\nlighting and connection of all services, finishing touches to the car park\nlighting and the brand-new footway access from Woodbury Lane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Station signage will also be installed and the wildlife\narea, to the left of the station approach, will be landscaped along with other\nareas of the station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The collective aim of stakeholders is to open the station\nfollowing the rail industry\u2019s national timetable change in December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the station is operational, passengers will be able to\naccess both Great Western Railway services operating between Hereford and\nWorcester, Pershore, Evesham, Oxford, Reading and London Paddington as well as\nCrossCountry Trains services between Cardiff and Nottingham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Initially, journey times and the frequency of services to\nand from London Paddington will be similar to current services from Worcester\nStations- roughly hourly across the day with some additional services in the\npeak periods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the Council is working with the North Cotswold Line\nTask Force to secure the investment necessary to improve on this in the future\n\u2013 the ambition being a 2 trains per hour service between Worcester and London\nwith 1 of these being a fast train to the capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brand new services to Worcester include trains operated by\nCrossCountry between Cardiff and Nottingham via stations including Gloucester\nCentral, Cheltenham Spa, Ashchurch for Tewkesbury, Birmingham New Street and\nDerby \u2013 these services do not currently stop at Worcester stations (they have\nnot done so for over 30 years) and will call at the new station from opening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The County Council and its partners are also planning for\nCrossCountry Plymouth-Newcastle and Bristol-Manchester services to call at\nWorcestershire Parkway in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This will go even further towards transforming\nWorcestershire\u2019s direct rail connectivity to major UK economies in the\nsouth-west, north-west and north-east.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To further these ambitions the Council has worked with their\nRail Advisors, SLC Rail to develop a comprehensive Rail Investment Strategy and\ntogether are working closely with partners in the rail industry, other local\nauthorities and Worcestershire&#8217;s MPs.<\/p>\n    \t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As rail advisors to Worcestershire County Council and project managers for Worcestershire Parkway, we invite you to take a virtual tour inside the station as the project nears completion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":1404,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1401","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorised"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.7 -
