<\/p>\nWork taking place to transform Kidderminster Station, the second busiest station in Worcestershire, is now complete.<\/p>\n
SLC Rail worked with Worcestershire County Council to deliver the improvements, which has included the construction of a striking glass fronted station building, twice the size of the original. The forecourt has also been redesigned to make access safer for pedestrians, as well as improvements to the drop-off, taxi and disabled parking arrangements and new bus stops and a pedestrian crossing on Comberton Hill.<\/p>\n

Councillor Ken Pollock, Worcestershire County Council\u2019s Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Economy and Infrastructure, said: \u201cIt\u2019s great news that the new station building which is a huge asset to the area, will be open and ready for when the current restrictions begin to ease.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe customer experience at the station will be vastly improved and the changes to the forecourt layout will make it much easier for pedestrians to access the building safely. I look forward to being part of a more official opening in the not too distant future.\u201d<\/p>\n
The improvement works have been mainly funded by Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership and Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership via the Local Growth Fund with contributions from Wyre Forest District Council and Worcestershire County Council.<\/p>\n
Ian Baxter, Strategy Director of SLC Rail said: \u201cSLC Rail has been pleased to work with the County Council, the Local Enterprise Partnerships and the rail industry, together with the neighbouring Kidderminster Railway Museum and Severn Valley Railway to develop and deliver this major transformation for passengers and the town of Kidderminster.\u201d<\/p>\n
