{"id":2088,"date":"2021-08-02T08:58:39","date_gmt":"2021-08-02T07:58:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/slcrail.com\/?p=2088"},"modified":"2021-08-02T08:58:39","modified_gmt":"2021-08-02T07:58:39","slug":"slc-hosts-young-rail-campaigner-for-work-placement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/slcrail.com\/slc-hosts-young-rail-campaigner-for-work-placement\/","title":{"rendered":"SLC hosts young rail campaigner for work placement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SLC, the new rail station specialist, recently welcomed fourteen-year-old rail campaigner, Harry Burr, for a one-week work placement.<\/p>\n<p>Dubbed Britain\u2019s youngest rail campaigner, Harry is the Chief Executive of Sustainable Transport Midlands, a not-for-profit organisation that has campaigned for a number of transport schemes.<\/p>\n<p>He believes that \u2018when a station is built, people use it\u2019 and has already put proposals together to build a new station near Daventry.\u00a0 He has also met with Rail Minister and his local MP, Chris Heaton-Harris, to discuss his plans.<\/p>\n<p>Ian Walters, Managing Director of SLC Rail said: \u201cHarry\u2019s passion for rail and improving infrastructure aligns to how we think at SLC, so we were only too pleased to offer him a placement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is an extremely impressive young man, and it was great to hear his thoughts on the future of rail in a post-Covid world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harry Burr, said:\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019ve learnt so much from my time at SLC that will feed into my future career and my rail-based improvement campaigns too.\u00a0 SLC Rail has been a great place to work, and it\u2019s been really useful to see how the rail industry collaborates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harry was particularly impressed with Worcestershire Parkway, which is one of\u00a0numerous\u00a0stations that SLC has designed and delivered since 2012.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a lot about Worcestershire Parkway that I feel I would want to see in future rail stations, especially the design and how it integrates with other transport,\u201d added Harry.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;    \t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SLC, the new rail station specialist, recently welcomed fourteen-year-old rail campaigner, Harry Burr, for a one-week work placement.
