{"id":4301,"date":"2024-07-19T14:01:44","date_gmt":"2024-07-19T13:01:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/slcrail.com\/?p=4301"},"modified":"2024-07-19T14:10:16","modified_gmt":"2024-07-19T13:10:16","slug":"slc-pedals-the-distance-from-birmingham-to-manchester-with-15-year-fundraiser","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/slcrail.com\/slc-pedals-the-distance-from-birmingham-to-manchester-with-15-year-fundraiser\/","title":{"rendered":"SLC pedals the distance from Birmingham to Manchester with 15 year fundraiser"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SLC, celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, has completed another 15 for 15 challenge by cycling for 8 hours on a static bike in Birmingham\u2019s Brindleyplace to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.<\/p>\n<p>The transport experts capitalised on the excitement of the Tour de France with a static cycle challenge outside their headquarters in Brindleyplace\u2019s Central Square.<\/p>\n<p>Colleagues from SLC Rail and SLC Property took on their own \u2018stage\u2019 throughout the day and raised \u00a31.25k for Prostate Cancer UK.\u00a0 The team collectively cycled 250 km, which is equivalent to the distance from SLC\u2019s headquarters in Birmingham to the company\u2019s northern team in Manchester and back.<\/p>\n<p>SLC has made a substantial impact on the railway in 15 years through work on rail strategies, new railway stations, master planning, and refurbishment and renewal schemes.<\/p>\n<p>Ian Walters, SLC\u2019s Managing Director, participated in one of the stages.\u00a0 He said: \u00a0\u201cOver our 15-year journey, giving back to society has always been important for us, so we wanted to organise 15 challenges or acts of kindness as part of our anniversary celebration. We have many more events planned to engage the entire company throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis challenge was fantastic showcasing teamwork in action with various parts of our business getting involved.
